Preventive Orthodontics

Προληπτική ορθοδοντική

Preventive orthodontics, also known as the first phase of orthodontic treatment, is a proactive approach to dental and skeletal care. It aims to prevent and address potential issues in the development and alignment of the teeth and jaws.
It is applied at ages 7 to 10, depending on the child’s developmental stage.

  • Jaw Expansion Appliances: These devices (removable or fixed) are used to expand the upper or lower jaw to create more space for the eruption of permanent teeth.

  • Functional Appliances: Functional appliances are usually used in children and adolescents to correct bite or jaw growth issues. They may be removable or fixed.

Orthodontics with Fixed Appliances (Braces)

Metal Braces: Traditional metal braces consist of metal brackets placed on the teeth and connected by a wire. They are the most common and often the most economical option.

Invisible Orthodontics – Clear Aligners (Spark, Invisalign)

Clear aligners are a modern method of tooth alignment, serving as an alternative to traditional braces.
They consist of a series of transparent, removable trays (aligners), customized for each patient using digital scanning and 3D technology.
Aligners must be worn 20+ hours per day, and the total number depends on the complexity of the case.
